Spring Fling Room Reveal

To celebrate the launch of our new wallpaper, Spring Fling, Ainslee from Lumi and Co, dreamed up this blooming gorgeous room, and we brought together many of our fave businesses to give it life! 

Hey Shannon, tell us about you… 

Hi guys! My name is Shannon and I am the founder and artist behind a little nursery art brand named Isla Dream. 

My creative journey began with makeup and face paint. Using these mediums to create whimsical looks on my clients at any given opportunity, and observing the excited reactions of children I had painted at events, I have always loved sharing my creativity with others. 

We'd love to hear the story behind Isla Dream...

After the birth of my second child Isla, I decided to move from skin to paper and create my own little piece of fairy-tale, this is when Isla Dream started to come to life. 

All my artwork is hand drawn by myself in Sydney Australia, and printed on luxurious quality papers and fabric. I am passionate about providing my customers with high quality products that can be treasured for many years and handed down through generations. 

My characters are designed to add comfort, joy and magic to your children’s bedrooms and lives. Their little smiles and reactions are what keep me creating! 

Spring Fling is divine, how did you bring it to life? Where did your inspo come from?

My Spring Fling wallpaper come to life after creating a series of children’s prints in similar colours. I wanted to make something fun, happy and colourful to tie the whole collection together. I wanted versatility, and for it to work both in a play space as well as a bedroom. But mostly I wanted something that would make kids smile when they looked at it. I hope you love it!

Hi Ainslee, tell us about you and your business…

I’m Ainslee, mum of Lucas and Amelia. I’ve always had a passion for showing my creative side. The very first product I made was a name plaque for my kids rooms on my Dad’s laser! I had so much fun, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities and growth my business, Lumi and Co has had!

You seem to love styling kids’ rooms…

Coming from a big family, I’ve always been a kid person,  and I think it’s so amazing to create a fun space that kids can be inspired by!

What was your inspiration for the Spring Fling room? 

I have slowly been injecting colour into Amelia’s room, it just makes it such a happy place to be! When I saw that Shannon (Isla Dream) and Elisa (Blond + Noir) were working on this wallpaper I just had to have it, the colours and the flowers caught my attention and I wanted to create a sanctuary for Amelia!

Tell us your top three tips for designing a kids’ room…

2/ Then I take inspiration from the colours and tones!
3/ Good toy storage is a necessity!
